01The Biotherm burner

Your own waste.Your own heat.

Biotherm’s own burner for slaughterhouse waste and other residues. The waste is shredded, blended with wood chips and burned – and the boiler turns it into heat, where it is produced.

The burner can be fitted with

Hot-water boiler
max 110 °C
High-temperature boiler
max 160 °C, and steam generator
Steam boiler
Two stainless-steel Biotherm burners with a secondary channel in a boiler room

02The cycle

The circle closeson site.

The waste does not need to be taken away. It passes through the shredder and the burner – and comes back as heat, where it was produced.

Landfill
Not needed
Transport
No transport of the waste off site
Storage

Used on site

Back againThe heat is used where the waste is produced.

  1. The residues

    Slaughterhouse waste and other residues.

  2. The shredder

Shreds the waste for further handling.

  3. The mixer

Blends slaughterhouse waste and wood chips in the right proportions.

  4. The burner

The fuel burns on the grate.

  5. The boiler

    Recovers the heat.

A cycle on site: the residues go to the shredder, the mixer blends them with wood chips, the burner burns the fuel and the boiler recovers the heat – which is used where the waste is produced.

03How the burner works

How the wastebecomes heat.

The fuel is fed in from the rear and burns on the grate. The flue gases rise into the horizontal secondary combustion chamber, which in turn carries the energy into the boiler and its heat exchanger, where the heat is recovered.

04The shredder · in-house manufacturing

First the shredder.Then the burner.

The shredder breaks up slaughterhouse waste – bone remnants, skulls and the like – for further handling. It runs for a set time and only with the lid closed.

  1. Fill.Open the lid and fill the hopper.
  2. Close. The safety switch confirms that the lid is closed.
  3. Start.Enter the start code. The shredder stops after the set time.

05The plant

The completeplant.

A 1,000 kW Biotherm burner (2 × 500 kW) with a shared secondary channel in front of the boiler. The flue gases then pass through a cyclone and a bag filter. Biotherm designs and engineers the plant in 3D.

The fuel feed

The fuel is loaded into the stores outdoors. Conveyor screws carry the material to the mixer pockets and then on into the burner or burners.

The ash

Ash screws run across the lower part of the burners and collect the ash from both burners. An inclined screw carries it out through the wall, to an ash chute outside the boiler room.

06Experience

Developed fordifficult fuels.

The burner was developed together with Luleå University of Technology for combustion as close to 100 % as possible – whatever the fuel. It can be adapted for biological residues, which makes it well suited to slaughterhouses and livestock farmers.

Built for slaughterhouse waste, horse manure and extremely wet wood chips – and it can be adapted for wood chips, pellets, briquettes, sod peat and grain.
